Measurement Methods for Extremely Low Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields in the Environment" was announced by the Environmental Analysis Laboratory of the Environmental Protection Administration on February 3, 2017. The measuring instruments and procedures in "Measurement Methods for Extremely Low Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields in the Environment" are suitable for high voltage transmission lines, substations, and transformers.

The Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan, R.O.C.(Taiwan) refers to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) method, which defines the health risks from a scientific perspective, and promulgate "GUIDELINES FOR LIMITING EXPOSURE TO TIME-VARYING ELECTRIC, MAGNETIC, AND ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS", on November 30, 2003. Based on 0 to 300 GHz, set different reference levels in order to protect humans not to overexpose to non-ionizing radiation.

- In 1996, the World Health Organization (WHO) established the International Electromagnetic Fields Project to investigate health risks associated with technologies emitting EMF. Establishing global data repository for exposure limits for time-varying electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields and recommending exposure limits for time-varying electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields. After a long period of research and careful evaluation, it is still encouraged to use 50 Hz 1000 mG; 60 Hz 833 mG as the exposure limits.
- "The Guidelines for Limiting Exposure to Time-varying Electric, Magnetic and Electromagnetic Fields" are based on the public exposure reference levels by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. Following the reference levels protects the public avoid the acute health effects of extremely low frequency, low frequency and radiofrequency fields short-term exposure.
