Hsieh-ho Power Plant is located in Keelung City. The construction started in 1972 and was completed in 1985 to meet the electricity demand of the government's economic development and enhance the reliability of the power supply. Hsieh-ho Power Plant features heavy oil-fired units with an installed capacity of 500MW each and 2,000MW in total.
Units 1 and 2 were decommissioned on December 31, 2019; while Units 3 and 4 currently operate with a total capacity of 1,000MW. In response to the increasing electricity demand in northern Taiwan, the “Hsieh-ho Power Plant Renewal Project” has been initiated. The plan involves renovating the infrastructures and converting the plant into two gas-fired combined cycle units, with a combined capacity ranging from 1,000 to 1,300 MW
