Hsinta Power Plant was a large-scale thermal power plant. It was built in 1970s by TPC to meet the rapidly growing industrial and electricity demand in Southern Taiwan.
Hsinta Power Plant is located on the south side of Hsinta Harbor, so it is named Hsinta Power Plant.
In 2025, first gas combined-cycle unit of Hsinta power plant combined cycle renewal project entered commercial operation. The other two units will be constructed successively.
To date, Hsinta Power plant has four coal-fired units and six gas combined-cycle units. Total capacity is about 3,526MW (excluded coal-fire units, #1~#3). Coal-fire unit #1 and #2 were decommissioned and converted to emergency standby unit in 2023, followed by unit #3 in 2025
