The Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education has been hosting the Sports Activist Award since 2009. This year marks its 15th anniversary, and a total of 108 enterprises and individuals participated in the competition. The 2023 Sports Activist Award ceremony was held on the afternoon of December 22, 2023, at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and Taipower won the award for the 14th time. Additionally, it shared the honor of receiving three major awards with other enterprises, including Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Fubon Financial Holding Co., Ltd., and Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. The award was accepted by Taipower Vice President Chih-Meng Tsai from Executive Yuan Member Wan-i Lin.

Since 1946, Taipower has successively established six teams, including men’s baseball, men’s volleyball, women’s badminton, women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, and women’s basketball. Through the Company’s continuous efforts in assisting the country to nurture sports talents, it has discovered potential athletes from high schools and universities and has nurtured over 500 national team athletes over the years.  Among them, Taipower’s women's badminton team, represented by “Seed Killer” Shuo-Yun Sung and Chien-Hui Yu, secured the runner-up position in the women’s doubles at the 2023 India Open held in December. Moreover, 15 players from Taipower teams, including the “Volleyball Condor Heroes” Ju-Chien Tai in men’s volleyball and Tzu-Ya Chen in women’s volleyball, represented Taiwan at this year’s Hangzhou Asian Games.

  • Taipower’s men’s volleyball team has achieved outstanding results, winning eight consecutive victories in the Challenge Round of the 2022 Enterprise Volleyball League.

Taipower’s sports teams have also achieved impressive results in various competitions: The baseball team won triple championships in 2022’s spring league, while the men’s volleyball team secured eight consecutive victories, and the women’s volleyball team secured six consecutive victories in the Challenge Round of the 2022 Enterprise Volleyball League. Additionally, the soccer team is also a frequent winner of awards. Taipower explained that the development of these sports teams has fostered a culture of sports within the company, leading to Taipower being honored with Sports Enterprise Certification by the Sports Department of the Ministry of Education for the 4th consecutive time this past October.

Taipower stated that, apart from nurturing athletes, it also actively combines team resources to promote charity. Each year, its sports teams form a “caring train” that reaches out to elementary and middle schools in rural areas and islands to provide guidance and pass on sports skills. To date, it has organized more than 100 sessions, spreading love to every corner of Taiwan. Additionally, Taipower has been hosting the Ball Fun Camp every summer since 2016, turning national-level athletes into the strongest coaches. This year marked the triumphant return of the activity following a 3-year suspension due to the pandemic, attracting more than 3,000 children to join the fun of sports. More than 15,000 children have participated in the camp in total.

Taipower explained that it will continue to play the role of Taiwan’s “sports activist” in nurturing talents. Moreover, it will integrate sports resources to fulfill corporate and social responsibilities, thereby promoting a corporate sports culture and creating win–win benefits.
