Did you know that Taipower used to have its own printing house? Located at No. 415 Jiaxing Street, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taipower’s old printing house served as a printing facility for all the electricity bills, internal documents and publications for the entire Taiwan Power Company for more than 30 years before being converted into a dormitory for its employees, and the building is currently over 50 years old. Taipower is now working with the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center for the first time on the “Jiaxing Street Public Urban Renewal” project, which officially broke ground today (December 23). Taipower pointed out that it has continuously assisted with urban renewal projects to promote the revitalization of corporate assets and diversified development, including its cooperation with the Taipei City Government and the Kaohsiung City Government to implement the public urban renewal projects of Nangang Northern Storage Center and Asia New Bay Area Economic and Trade Park Specific Trade Zone (III), respectively. As for the current collaboration, Taipower will receive a detached residential and commercial building that integrates green energy and power-saving planning, and is expected to be transformed into a smart green building in 2026.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new construction base of the “Jiaxing Street Public Urban Renewal” project was held on the morning of December 23, with National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center CEO Huang Ching-Mao, Taipower Vice President Wang Chen-Yung, the capital provider Chainqui Construction Development Co., Ltd. President Li Lung-Kuang and other distinguished guests praying for its smooth construction.

Taipower explained that the Jiaxing Street Public Urban Renewal project (a total of 28 Lots, including No. 61, Subsection 4, Xinhai Section, Da’an District) is located in the best part of Da’an District, Taipei City, near Jiaxing Park, Da’an Elementary School, and Heping High School. The project area encompasses a total of approximately 5,120 square meters, of which Taipower owns approximately 2,573 square meters (778 pings), accounting for more than 50% of the total area and making Taipower the largest landowner. The land used to be Taipower’s own printing house, which served as a printing facility for all the electricity bills, internal documents, and Taipower’s monthly publications since the 1960s, and was converted to a staff dormitory in the early 2000s. Taipower has been promoting region-wide urban renewal since 2011, and the newly established National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center took over the project in 2018. In the interim, it has communicated with and integrated the consensus of nearly 70 landowners, making this the most complicated urban renewal project in terms of property rights to date. Investment in the project was completed in 2020, with Chainqui Construction Development Co., Ltd. serving as the capital provider. The project officially entered the construction stage today.

• More than half of the land in the Jiaxing Street Public Urban Renewal Project is owned by Taipower. It was formerly the Company’s own printing house, which printed of all of Taipower’s electricity bills, documents, and publications since the 1960s. For this project, three 16-17-story above-ground, 4-story below-ground hybrid residential-commercial complexes are planned to be built; they will include stores, shared offices, public welfare facilities, and residences. The project is expected to be completed in 2026, which will drive the development of the surrounding area and create a friendly and livable living environment. According to Taipower, after the urban renewal, it will receive a detached residential and commercial building that integrates green energy and power saving applications, which can use solar power to generate electricity independently and also connect to the Home Energy Management System (HEMS) with smart meters to establish a smart green building. The building's market value is estimated to be over NT$3 billion and will be entrusted to a property management company for lease upon completion.

The urban renewal project is also incorporated with the “Memory Circuit” exhibition, and on December 25, TPCreative, in collaboration with the design team (2 by Wu&Chen), will launch a limited time Christmas market, featuring a series of works on the electricity recycling economy, such as retired wood crossarms and drink coasters manufactured from upcycled transformer boxes and Sun Moon Lake sediment. Special meals and a DJ electronic music performance combining elements of Taipower will also be featured. Please come and enjoy your visit.
