Bridging the Nangang and Xinyi project areas, Taipower's Northern Storage Center has been transformed into the first pearl of the Eastern Gateway Project! In addition to its efforts to stabilize the power supply, Taipower also continues to revitalize the use of land assets by releasing the land of the old Northern Storage Center for revitalization. Recently, the public selection of the old site of the Northern Storage was successfully completed, and the best applicant was awarded by Kindom Construction, and the signing ceremony was held today (1). On September 11, 2011, Taipower successfully completed the public comprehensive evaluation of the Nangang site of the Northern Storage and Transportation Center, and held a signing ceremony at the Taipower building today, which was signed by Chairman Yang, Wei-Fuu and Chairman Ma, Chih-Kang of Kindom Construction Mr. Chen, Hsin-Liang. Director of Taipei City Urban Renewal Office and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony. The project is planned to construct 2 residential and commercial buildings. Taipower will share back the separate commercial office buildings through a right exchange and will be guaranteed by Kindom Construction to lease back the buildings for 10 years for continuous rental income.

Taipower pointed out that the Northern Storage and Transportation Center was the "Songshan Factory of Taiwan Power Co." during the Japanese rule period, and was the hub for power equipment maintenance, laying a solid foundation for Taiwan's electricity, and that, in the following decades, it was the only company-level warehouse of Taipower, responsible for supplying and managing various electrical equipment's components, and was an important back-up force for Taiwan's power supply. With the development of the city and the old buildings not enough for use, the company moved to Taoyuan in 2014 and released the old North Storage land, which is planned to be revitalized through urban renewal, in the hope of driving the prosperous development of the Nangang area.

• The Northern Storage and Transportation Center was the only company-level warehouse of Taipower, responsible for supplying and managing various electrical equipment's components, and was an important back-up force for Taiwan's power supply.

Taipower said that the North Storage City project is the first government-led urban renewal case in the country to be publicly evaluated by a state-run utility, and is also a part of the eastern gateway plan proposed by the Taipei City Government. It is close to public facilities, such as Songshan Station, MRT Houshanpi Station, and Nangang Sports Center, and is a prime area with excellent living facilities. In addition, the North Storage City project is located at the starting point of the East District Gateway Project connecting to the Xinyi Project Area, which will link up the cultural and creative, transportation, biotechnology, digital technology and other complex functional spaces to build the Nangang industrial corridor.

The contractor, Kindom Construction, has extensive experience in urban renewal and integrated and reconstructed the Xindian administrative Park in the first government-led urban renewal case in the country, which was completed in 2020. Taipower pointed out that in this case, an international team was organized with three major planning priorities: "urban management", "circular economy" and "smart building", and planned to join hands with Mori Building Company, Limited, drawing on the experience of Roppongi Hills, shaping a charming neighborhood that blends with public space. The company has also joined hands with MINIWIZ, which has created the Flower Expo Pavilion using PET bottles, to introduce the concept of "recycled building materials" and try to reuse coal ash and other by-products of power generation or retired materials into building materials, interior decoration and furniture for this project. It will work with Microsoft to introduce energy management systems and cloud platform analytics applications and expect to obtain "LEED Gold Certification" in the U.S. and "Green Building Gold Certification", "Intelligent Building Gold Certification", and "Carbon Footprint Certification" in Taiwan, in the hope of setting an example for the government-led urban renewal case.

In addition to the North Storage Urban Renewal project, Taipower also actively cooperates with the government's urban renewal policy. A few days ago, the largest government-led urban renewal case in Taiwan - Kaohsiung Asia New Bay Area "Special Trade III" completed the evaluation. Kaohsiung City Government and Taipower share about 3,559,000 square feet of floor space, which will be planned as a base for the government to promote 5G AIoT (Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things) development. Taipower said it will continue to promote the revitalization of other lands in the future, and hopes that the industry will continue to work together with Taipower to drive local development.
