The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA), the highly acclaimed CSR awards in Asia, were presented online today (September 2) and Taipower is once again recognized by the Award for 4 consecutive years. After winning two Awards last year, Taipower was awarded for Taiwan’s first renewable energy exhibition- Taipower D/S One and the circular economy strategy blueprint in the “Social Empowerment Category” and the “Circular Economy Leadership Category”, respectively, sharing the honor with renowned enterprises such as Standard Chartered Bank and President Chain Store. Taipower stated that in addition to continuing to ensure stable power supply, it will also actively respond to the global trend of energy transformation and environmental protection, and use its strengths to give back to the society.

Enterprise Asia is an NGO dedicated to creating Asian entrepreneurship and regional sustainable development. It has held the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards since 2011, covering Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. The 2021 Asia Responsible Enterprise Award ceremony was held online on September 2, and Awards were given in seven major categories, including the Green Leadership Category, Health Promotion Category, Investment in People Category, Social Empowerment Category, Corporate Governance Category, , and Responsible Business Leadership Category.

Since 2018, Taipower has won Awards in the "Social Empowerment Category", the "Investment in People Category" and the "Circular Economy Leadership Category". Last year, Taipower won double Awards for the first time in the "Social Empowerment Category" and the "Circular Economy Leadership Category" for the Light Up 13-Layer Remains and the Circular Renewable Energy Business Model, respectively. This year, Taipower has once again received the Awards for 4 consecutive years.

Taipower explained that in recent years, it has been integrating the blueprint of circular economy strategy while implementing the energy transformation, taking into account the balance between power supply and environmental protection, and aiming for sustainable operation and development. It is our honor to receive double Awards again, said Taipower.

For the Award in the Social Empowerment Category, Taipower has revolutionized the "energy education" through carrying out exhibition and educational activities in recent years, bringing power knowledge closer to the public; examples include the creation of Taiwan's first renewable energy themed exhibition in 2019- Taipower D/S One and the "Light Up Exhibition" held last year.

Among them, the base floor of the Taipower D/S One is a substation that supplies more than 600 GWh of electricity to New Taipei City annually, meeting the power needs of the Xinban Special District as well as the Banqiao Station with the convergence of three rail systems. The exhibition focuses on the essence of "green, smart, and future". It promotes energy education through creative communication such as digital motion interaction of Energym and public participation platform. It is known as "the most fun exhibition in Taiwan". Since its opening, the exhibition has won the Red Dot Design Award in Germany and the MUSE Award of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). This year, it won the 2021 MUSE Design Awards (Exhibition Experience, Experiential & Immersive) of the International Awards Associates (IAA) again. In response to the ease of the pandemic, the Taipower D/S One is now reopened. People can make reservation online for visit. In October, the exhibition is expected to open on Sunday. Taipower has been organizing the Taipower Cultural Heritage Exhibition since in 2018. Last year, it held the "Light Up Exhibition" in the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park to communicate with people through interactive exhibition, attracting more than 20,000 visitors.

For the Award in the Circular Economy Leadership Category, Taipower has transformed from a linear economic thinking in the past to a thinking based on the sustainable circular economy model, and incorporated innovations of circular economy into the energy transformation process. For example, the “Environmental White Paper” was announced for the first time in 2019 and the “Circular Economy Strategy Blueprint” was formulated in 2020 to assess the circular potential of various operational aspects.

Taipower pointed out that from improving power generation efficiency, developing renewable energy and implementing the energy transformation policies of the government, to the reuse of resources such as coal ash, waste water and sulfur hexafluoride, it aims to achieve sustainability and zero waste, and is committed to improving the efficiency of energy and resources, while developing a circular economy business model. Examples include the establishment of the TPCreative in 2018, and the use of coal ash from power plants to create "manhole cover-shaped coasters". Recently, Taipower has used the doors of nearly 4,000 retired distribution boxes recovered from all over Taiwan to make the "Taipower Hot Pad". In addition to being selected as a souvenir for Taipower’s Shareholders Meeting this year, they will also be sold on the TPCreative e-commerce platform this month. Please join us to support the circular economy.

By combining it with the old official document paper, an "aroma stone notebook" is created, making Taipower the first state-owned enterprise to develop gift for guests.
