Taipower's annual beach cleanup activity, in which power plant employees around Taiwan and residents of neighboring communities are invited to participate, is always conducted before Mid-Autumn Festival every year, and this is the 24th year for the event. Taipower pointed out that there were 13 beach cleanups held around Taiwan (including offshore islands areas) this year (2017), in which a group of around 7,000 employees of 19 units and residents of neighboring communities were gathered together to maintain the beauty of our coasts. There were a group of around 500 volunteers and Taipower employees coming to clean up the beach near Ta-Tan Power Plant this morning (20170930). Taipower Chairman Zhu Wen-cheng also rolled up his sleeves to work with teachers and students of the elementary schools in neighborhoods to clean up the beach, and thus to protect our coasts with action. 
    Taipower said that it has been collaborating with John Tung Foundation since 2013 by donating funds raised from converting the rubbish collected from beach cleanups into dollars at the rate of NT$10 per kilo to assist John Tung Foundation in promoting the prevention of depression in children and adolescents by means of public benefit activities such as promoting emotional education in schools and holding mobile workshops, etc. According to the statistics, around 20,000 students were helped in the past five years, which signifies a combination of 'beach cleanup' and 'mind cleanup' and also a fulfillment of Taipower's social responsibility in regards to caring for the society and giving back to the community with action to achieve public benefit.
